South Orange County Photographer | Courtney and Nam
Any time you get a toddler involved in a photo shoot, it's a good idea go into the session with a little bit flexibility in your plans, a lot a patience, and a good sense of humor. So many people head into a photo session with visions of that Pinterest-worthy family photo, with everyone looking forward and smiling happily at the camera. What you don't see when you look at those photos is all of the C R A Z Y moments that it took to get there...
This is my second year photographing Courtney and Nam here in Orange County, and this year we decided on this cool open space in San Juan Capistrano for their family holiday photos. Last year, little Ryan was just a baby, and couldn't tell us what she wanted to do. This year however, she let us know when it was time to break from picture taking, so we could all play a little. It is always so much fun to see the little personalities from kids as they get bigger.
Luckily for all of us, this sweet little lady was full of so many smiles! We were able to move through a lot of different areas of the San Juan Capitstrano Open space to get a variety of photos, and also to keep the little one happy. And during the moments she needed a little break, we got some great photos of mom and dad together.
Even though during the holidays, when everyone needs one perfect family photo to go on your Christmas card, I know that the photos you will probably value the most are the ones come in between those perfect moments. The hugs, the tickles, the laughing, and the other photos that capture personalities and interactions... those are MY favorites. (But I'll still get you the Christmas Card photo too!!)
I guess my point here is that while your session may feel crazy, and hectic and like you aren't going to end up with any photos that you love, have some faith! Courtney definitley felt that way during this session, but when she got her photos back she text me with this:
"Kari!! These look amazing! Can't belive you got so many good photos, considering all parties invovled did not want to cooperate! I am in love with the photos"
