Laguna Beach || Engagement Session with Stephanie and Robert

Stephanie and Robert are planning for their November 2021 wedding in Corona, and I am so happy to be their wedding photographer! I can’t wait to see these two lovebirds celebrate with family and friends, and tie the knot!

Part of their wedding photography package included an engagement session, and of course I was beyond thrilled that they wanted to their engagement photos at the beach. If there is anywhere I love to take photos, it’s the beach!! We headed down to Laguna Beach to have some fun in the water.

These two already have a super sweet little boy together, but they decided to just come alone for this session. It’s definitely a totally different type of session when you incorporate a toddler, so they were happy to have a bit more freedom and a little less stress.

Here’s one piece of advice for any Orange County beach photographers: check the tide calendars. I probably should have listened to my own advice ahead of this session! When we arrive, the waterline was relatively normal, but we definitely noticed that it was on the rise. As we wondered off towards some farther off rocks, and started to get adventurous, the lifeguard whistled for us to return closer to the sand. We headed back over, and he told us we were likely to get trapped out there if we didn’t stay closer to the shore! Oops!

We headed back to the safety of the sand, and started playing in the waves. I stopped paying attention to the water, with my back to all of our possessions that were in the sand behind us, until I heard a little shriek from a another person on the beach. I turned around to see her trying to retrieve some of our items that had been soaked by a wave that had come up especially high! We had sandals floating back with the water out to the sea, and my bright pink camera bag that I bring with me to every session had been splashed. We helped to grab our items, and take it WAY up the beach. I was left with just one shoe. And thankfully my camera bag was zipped tight, and i only got water in one side pocket. One of my spare batteries was ruined, but it could have been SOOOO much worse!
