Ladera Ranch Newborn || Baby Adalaide
I am a traveling, in-home newborn photographer, based in Ladera Ranch, Orange County. That means that for each newborn session I do, I load up my car with EVERYTHING I need for the session, head over to my client’s home, and bring everything inside with me. I really only need an open floor space of about 7 feet by 7 feet. Usually I end up in the living room or dining room, and push a few things to the side. The lighting doesn’t make much of a difference, since I tend to close up the shades and rely on my big light that I bring along with me! I’ve shot these sessions in all kinds of homes! From tiny and messy, to huge and clean, to families who just moved and everything is still in boxes, and everything in between!
Because I bring everything with me, I sometimes worry about what the parking situation will be, so I don’t have to make too many long walks back and forth with my stuff. When I arrived to do sweet little Adalaide’s session, I was happy to pull up to parking spot that was only a few steps from the front door. In my mind, it was a total score!
Then, her mom answered the door and said “you are going to hate us, but the only spot we have in the house is up on the 3rd floor!”. I died a little inside! haha. She showed me around her house, and up to the 3rd floor nursery. It as true. That was the best spot if we didn’t want to literally move her dining room table into the garage or something.
I made sure my apple watch was going to give me some workout minutes, and picked up the first load of stuff to carry up the flights of stairs. That’s when I was saved. Kelly said “oh, my husband is a firefighter. He’ll carry everything upstairs for you! He’s used to it!”. Normally I don’t ask parents to help with anything. I want them to relax and enjoy the experience, but before I could object, everything was scooped up and lugged up to the third floor. And honestly, I was so relieved! A newborn session is already a lot of work, without adding 10 extra flights of stairs at the beginning.
And speaking of firemen, I think there is definitely something in the water at those fire stations! Adalaide is my 3rd firefighter baby this month, and the 5th one this year! It’s been so much fun to incorporate different fire gear into each session! Each set of parents has had a few different things that were meaningful to them, and I like to try to make each one look a little bit unique.
This girl was literally a dream. She slept, she let me pose her, and she was incredibly adorable. And her parents were equally as wonderful. I was so happy to get to capture her newborn moments!
